rDNA

This is the Alteration part to my rDNA project. This storyboard video is based off of my randomly assigned word, “science”. The sequence shows a plant going through its life cycle from seed to flower, to being picked and being placed in a vase and the rain and sunshine in between that help the plant grow. Life cycles such as this one, for me, exemplify one of the many aspects of science.

This sketch is based off the randomly assigned word I got to do the Mind Map sketch. The word assigned to me was science. I incorporated some words/aspects that I feel relate to science such as magnify glass and plants.

I also included my citations for this picture:

Keynote

After reading Edward Tufte’s “Powerpoint is Evil” and David Byrne’s “Learning to Love Powerpoint” I feel that I can agree with both sides of the argument. Both articles point out how Powerpoint can be limiting. Although Byrne is “learning to love” Powerpoint, he explains how it is limiting, inflexible and struggles visually (Byrne, 2003). Similarly, Tufte complains how, maybe worst of all, Powerpoint bores audiences and ,because of this, disrespects them (Tufte, 2003). On the brighter side of things, Bynre rebuttals his negative comment by pointing out the convenience of the slide wear program, and in today’s world, this is something that is valuable to many. Therefore, hearing both I feel that Powerpoint definitely is lacking in many areas, but I do not think it is going anywhere due to how accessible and convenient it is.

As far as the Keynote tutorials, three techniques I learned were how to create custom shapes, how to insert hyper links and how to insert audio and video files.
