Music

9/5/2023

As I previously mentioned, one of my favorite hobbies is music. It all began when I was very little. I remember my dad always playing popular rock bands in our home, and I knew every lyric to their songs. When I was 14, I decided to learn to play the guitar; it was the best decision ever. I took the guitar lessons for a while and realized I didn’t improve much, so I decided to teach myself. My favorite part about guitar is I got to play all of my favorite songs. I remember always being in my room and practicing it for at least an hour every day to improve. I recently bought a piano, and I’ve been practicing it nonstop. I learned that playing musical instruments required a lot of effort and consistency in time management. I was also a part of the chorus club in high school. Music has always brought me comfort and great memories, especially when starting college.

Career Goals

Career Goals

8/31/2023

Before starting college, I was unsure what college I should apply to and what major to study. After a long consideration, I decided to go to Penn State Berks and study business in management and marketing. In my first year, I was still questioning my academic choices and wanted to switch, but I was too afraid to do so. I realized it was the best decision ever when I started my internship. It entirely changed my mindset and perspective in my personal, academic, and professional lives. I became more motivated and decisive in everything I did, and my career paths seemed more apparent, rather than blurry, like a few years ago.

As I mentioned in my first blog, I lived in Philadelphia during the summer internship. I worked for Rocksteady Promotions, a direct marketing company. I worked as a door-to-door sales representative, going outside daily under the summer heat to make sales. I questioned my life decisions in the first three weeks, wondering if this was worth it. But after it ended, the biggest lesson I took from it was to turn every negative into a positive. In exchange for those hard times, I learned how to communicate better and ask the right questions, and I also noticed my persuasion skills were improved.

My career goal is to work as a digital marketer, where I can work with companies and help them build great websites to attract visitors. At the same time, I want to be a leader and a successful entrepreneur. I want to run my own business that focuses on fashion and jewelry. I also want to own a house and help my family in Vietnam. Since I will be graduating in December, I want to take an extended break to discover myself more and work on the skills I need to improve.

About Me

About Me

Hello!

My name is Duyen Ha. I was born and raised in Saigon, Vietnam. When I was 9, my family immigrated to the U.S. and resided in Reading, PA. I’m a senior at Penn State Berks and will be graduating this December. I studied Business with a concentration in Marketing and Management.

I recently completed my internship at Rocksteady Promotions as a sales representative in Philadelphia. I enjoyed and created a lot of memories there, including the many lessons I learned as an intern. Although I had a lot of fun memories during my time in Philly, it can be lonely without the presence of my family. After my internship ended, it was challenging to say goodbye to everyone in the company because I saw them as my second family.

During my free time, I often like to spend time all by myself. I love watching movies or going to the movie theater, listening to music, and going to the gym when free.
