This is our last week of school before spring break and I am going to be spending it in my hometown of Delray Beach, Florida. Over spring break I am finally going to get to see my family and celebrate my 19th birthday. I am extremely excited and happy to be back with everyone again. Even better, my friends Sophie, Grace and Gabe are all coming home with me for the break and are going to meet my family. I am very excited, as I hope my family enjoys them just as much as I do.

Most of the time we are just going to be at the beach, as it is one of my favorite places to be. It will be nice to escape the cold, frigid weather of State College, and be in the 80s all day, every day. On the day of my birthday, I just want to have a big dinner with everyone at one of my favorite restaurants in Miami, Tanzy. Spring Break also signifies that this semester and my first year of college is coming to a close. Once we come back from spring break, all we have is 7 more weeks and we are done, and wow! That couldn’t have gone by any faster.

I’m going to use this break to enjoy time with my family, who I don’t get to see often and decompress, which I think all us hard working students deserve. Being able to soak up the sun and feel the ocean waves and salt water seep into my skin heals all stress and anxiety for me. Being around my family is also comforting because they know me better than anyone else. I think it is important to separate schoolwork from things that make you happy, that way when you can go home and do those things, it makes it ten times better.

  1. Dylan, I have known you since the beginning of the first semester, and if anyone deserves a break, it is you. You have worked so hard all throughout this year, knocking down challenge after challenge and rising out of the ashes as a champion! SO proud of you and what you have accomplished this year, and I hope to visit you next spring break in your beautiful hometown!

  2. Sounds like you had a fun and relaxing break. I’m jealous, I returned to weather conditions undistinguishable from State College’s. I agree that your family will always know you best. That has certainly been my experience. Although, I do hope some amount of happiness, or at least fulfillment, can be derived from schoolwork and academic study.

  3. Even though it ended way too quickly, spring break was a much-needed reprieve from college for us all. I only live a few hours away, in Pittsburgh, but I can totally relate to your wish to escape the cold. It’s absurd! Although we did have a few nice days at the beginning of break, which I contently spent with my German Wirehaired Pointer Outside, it started raining again. Oh well. As the semester wraps up, I cannot wait to be done! I am sure this sentiment resonates with every other college student on the planet.
