Our group studies earth-atmosphere interactions, ranging from the flux of carbon dioxide from forests, agricultural fields and urban areas to the air, to the flux of methane from natural gas extraction facilities, to the exchange of heat and energy from the ground to the air, to continental-scale fluxes of carbon dioxide and methane. Platforms for the measurements we make and use range from small flux towers, to 100-m communications towers, to aircraft and satellites.
A NASA plane flew over the Centre region gathering air samples for part of the Atmospheric Carbon and Transport-America project.
Our team installs instruments measuring greenhouse gases at the base of communications towers, and then uses weather models to interpret the results.
