Sedimentary Geology and Geochemistry Labs

The Earth History group has two sample prep spaces in the basement of Deike.

The sedimentary geochemistry lab (Deike B007) is for wet chemistry and experiments or sample prep that require an additional level of cleanliness. The Sed Geochem Lab is housed with a hood with chemical storage, distilled and milliQ water systems, large and micro centrifuges, a Hach spectrophotometer, temperature-controlled water bath, vortexer, pipettes and glassware. The center island consists of small sample storage drawers for active projects. Please contact Miquela Ingalls if you would like to use this lab.

The Earth History prep lab (Deike B029) is a space for handling and preparing sedimentary rocks. There is ample bench top space intended for sample layout of active projects. The EH lab houses both standard picking microscopes and petrographic microscopes. In addition, the EH lab has a large low-temperature oven, a rock crusher, a trim saw for cutting small samples, a temperature controlled water bath and ultrasonicator, and a balance, in addition to other small equipment.
