Do not be scared! I am not here to yell at you about having to deal with the consequences of this weeks poor life choices (because I hope there are none), but instead I mean this post quite literally. You need to make your bed and take some time to just lay in it. With the virus keeping us home from school, work, sports and other extracurriculars, many of us are spending more time than ever at home and in our bedroom. Your bed should be your prime zone of rest and relaxation; an area where your body is trained to settle into its most relaxed state. So I believe it should be amongst the most expensive areas in your house. Oh and believe it or not, your bed can bring a boring room to an Ikea store display with a little bit of TLC. I am here to give you a few ideas on redesigning both your bed and its purpose.
Let’s start this journey from the bottom up.
Sheets.
You need a bottom AND top sheet. Invest! This is the piece of your bed that makes the most contact with your body, so why would you not want something soft? Sheets that regulate body temperature help to keep you within your deepest sleep all night long. Try these!
Pillowcases.
Pillowcases do more for you than simply case your pillow. Where you lay your head can have consequences on both your hair and skin. Cotton pillowcases often trap dirty and absorb moisture leaving your hair dry and your skin broken out. Silk pillowcases help to lock in moisture and do not easily collect dirt. Slip has created an affordable silk pillowcase that I personally use and have gifted to others in the past. (Yes I know, $89/pillowcase. In my defense I said affordable silk pillowcase, not affordable in general)
Pillows.
Now that you have a pillow case.. you need a pillow. duh. Pillows provide support to your head and neck which align your entire body. Waking up with a crook in your neck can offset your entire day and eventually leads to issues with time. Having your head elevated provides proper circulation while you sleep so it is important to find a good one! A trusted brand in both beds and bedding is Tempurpedic. Tryout the TEMPUR-Cloud Pillow
Comforter.
The icing on the cake. Your comforter! This is completely up to you, but a new comforter will certainly make your bed look — and feel — like new. I do not know your personal style, but whatever matches your style will certainly do! Normalize having more than one comforter in rotation! It changes up your room and makes you look twice when leaving out in the morning 🙂
Wait before you get in! I know your bed looks all pretty, but lets layout some new bed rules
Your bed…is your bed. Not your jobs bed, not random peoples, not your dogs. Unless you live with a significant other, you should be the only person laying in your bed on a constant basis. Do not bring your work to bed, do not bring your fifth sneaky link of the week to your bed and kick Fido to the floor (or get them their own dog bed). You did not spend time and money for outside influences to come and ruin your bed’s immaculate vibes. Associating your bed with sleep and rest leads to better results in both, so trust me when I say…its YOUR bed for a reason.
Now hop in 😉 Enjoy
