Academic Warning
- A student with a cumulative GPA below 2.00 is in Academic Warning*.
- The student will receive notification at the end of each semester if their cumulative GPA drops below 2.00.
- A student placed on Academic Warning will have a registration hold placed on their account (courses cannot be scheduled).
- To lift the hold, the student must meet with an Academic Recovery Adviser. The advising meeting must be initiated within the first 3 days of the Add/Drop period of the current semester. Students who meet with an adviser after the first 3 days will not have their hold lifted except in extenuating circumstances. If a student wishes to request an exception, they must discuss their request with an Academic Recovery Adviser and submit their request in writing to the Director of the Advising Center and the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Students.
- A student in Academic Warning may continue to enroll in classes so long as their semester GPA (every semester) remains above 2.00. If while on Academic Warning the student’s semester GPA falls below 2.00, the student will be Academically Suspended.
- A student will return to Good Academic Standing when their cumulative GPA returns to 2.00 or higher.
Being on Academic Warning is not a punishment or the end of your academic career. Rather, Academic Warning is a notification that it is time to seek help in taking an active approach to improve your academics. The Eberly College of Science will support you throughout the process.
