My Ideas

For my blog I have two new ideas, but I’m also not totally opposed to continuing with my old topic. I really enjoyed writing the reviews and trying to make them interesting and engaging. However, I also thought a cool idea would be a book review blog but only on one book. Each entry would be about a section of the book and my reading experience. My second new idea is to do a recipe review blog. While I love to read, cooking is also a huge part of my life. I would follow a similar format where I would share recipes I’ve tried.

For my civic engagement blog one idea I had was the effectiveness of the public school system and how certain areas, like foreign language, need to be revamped. My other idea was to focus on diversity within the public school system, specifically focusing on special education programs.

For “This I Believe” my first belief is to never judge a book by its cover. While that’s a really cliché phrase, it’s something that I heavily identify with, and I’ve experienced negative situations because of it not being followed. My second belief is that you should always stay true to yourself, even if it’s not the most popular or cool way of life.

  1. First and foremost, I admire your desire to change the topic of your passion blogs; it takes courage to try something new rather than navigate a comfortable topic. That being said, I like the idea of a recipe review. As someone who truly enjoys all types of food, I would certainly enjoy reading the entries. However, it would also be wise to elaborate on the cultural backgrounds associated with rarer recipes.

As for the Civic Issues blog, I personally feel that the topics you address regarding the school system are not in dire need of “revamping.” For instance, I believe that funding schools located in low-income communities is among the most pressing issues that requires the greatest amount of input.

Finally, for your This I Believe podcast essay, stating that we must “not judge a book by its cover” is incredibly wise. While a well-known statement by many, its significance directly pertains to modern life, and I feel that it would help convey your message as well as others’.

  2. I really think your book idea for your passion blog would definitely be something cook to do. I think only do one book would make it a lot less stressful and very motivating to get you to read it. I think your civic issue would be something very interesting to dive into. I also really like the message, “not judging a book by its cover”.

  3. I would absolutely love to read a book review blog! I am always looking for new things to read so that would be amazing. I like your idea for the civic blog to look into the diversity of public schools- I think you could use that idea to go into redlining. Also for your “This I Believe” topics, I know don’t judge a book by its cover sounds like a cliche, but I think you would have a great story to go with that.
