Recently, we’ve been talking about the use of antipsychotic medications for residents, the importance of gradual dose reduction strategies, and the risks and benefits of these medications in people with dementia. Communicating this information with your residents’ loved ones is vital and can be difficult during an emotional time.

Consumer Reports, in cooperation with the American Geriatrics Society, developed a 2-page tip sheet with information that would be helpful to share with family and friends of residents so that they too can understand the issues around antipsychotic use. The link to the tip sheet is below:
