  1. This is a very important topic within American societies today and I’m glad you chose to bring attention to it. Poverty has greatly affected U.S. families and it has split society. It is important to point out how race and gender has played a role in poverty, and I completely agree with you about the republican party’s influence over this crisis. More action needs to be taken.

  2. I think this was a great topic to shed light on because being young adults, this topic is not something that crosses our mind often, especially being fortunate to go to a great school like Penn State. It was a great idea to point out specific factors of poverty as well like race and gender.

  3. This is a crucial and timely topic, bravo! You made an educated, and factual argument citing socio-economic, race, and even gender factors influencing poverty. I completely agree that citizens in poverty or who are homeless cannot be expected to find jobs without an income to live and eat off of. It’s like clipping a bird’s wings and telling it to fly! It’s ridiculous.

  4. I think the American people are only beginning to see the magnitude of this problem in recent years and it’s great that you chose to shed a light on it. I would also be very interested in your opinion of this issue as someone who was not born in American and how other countries view this problem. I also really liked how you showed the partisan differences in how to approach this problem. Looking forward to the next post!

  5. I think this was a great topic to choose! I was thinking about doing a similar topic, but didn’t quite know how to go about it. I think you are tackling it from a good angle. I also love how you put the larger quotes in there. It made it easier to read as it was broken up a bit. I’d love to know not only your position on the matter, but how you think it could be handled. Can’t wait to read more!

  6. This is such an important topic to shed some light on it, as well as bringing the literature into the light the conversation needs to be brought into the light. The severity and effects of poverty in America have often brushed aside due to white-collar lawmakers being in charge, and being the ones making these budget cuts.
