Research Technologist II Position Available

The research laboratory of Dr. Charles T. Anderson, at The Pennsylvania State University, seeks to hire a Research Technologist 2. The successful candidate will perform research and organizational activities in the laboratory of Dr. Charles T. Anderson, Associate Professor of Biology, as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary project that seeks to develop and test strategies for food resilience following major disasters. The Anderson Lab uses molecular genetics, cell biology, biochemical analysis, and advanced microscopy to study the biosynthesis and dynamics of plant cell walls, with the goal of informing efforts to produce environmentally sustainable food, materials, and energy. Hands-on laboratory experience and/or project management experience is strongly preferred, with mastery of several of the following techniques: carbohydrate biochemistry, enzymology, molecular biology, plant genetics, and microscopy.

  • The successful applicant must have the ability to plan, execute, interpret, summarize, and troubleshoot research projects.
  • The selected candidate must also be able to collaborate effectively with and help manage information flow between members of a large research team.
  • Excellent organizational and verbal and written English communication skills are required.
