About Me

I’m Ushani Molligoda, a junior in Marketing at the Pennsylvania State University and currently an intern for the Penn State Global Marketing and Communications department.

I’ve always been attracted to beautiful things, whether it’s the colorful hydrangeas at a flower shop or sunsets after a rainstorm. As I got older, my appreciation for beauty translated into my endless scrolling sprees on Instagram and Pinterest to find captivating posters. It’s only when I had to make an infographic for an assignment that I realized I had a passion for creating aesthetically pleasing graphic designs. Since then I’ve been dedicated to learning more about social media marketing and graphic design trends.

As a marketing intern at Penn State Global, I’ve used the knowledge I gained from learning about recent marketing and graphic design trends to create engaging social media content for their accounts. The social media content I create and post on the Penn State Global accounts focus around news and upcoming events that connect domestic and international students on campus. I’ve been able to increase engagement on Penn State Global’s Instagram account by 29% with the ‘Student Organization Spotlight’ series that I planned and executed.

Along with my year-long internship, I spend my time balancing schoolwork while also making time to enjoy my favorite activities. I’ve maintained a 4.00 GPA and earned both The President Walker Award and The President Sparks Award in recognition of my academic achievements. After graduation I hope to work as a social media specialist in the fashion or cosmetic industry, connecting my passion with my hobbies to transform the way customers interact with companies.
