First day of Clean Up – Green Invaders (April 17, 2016)

On Friday April 15 we met Arden who was in charge of the clean up that day and met her at the  entrance of Baer Park. Once we arrived at Baer park entrance there were loads of trash along the entrance and the walkway was filled with plastic bottles, and broken glass and everyday house trash all throughout the trail. As we continued to clean up we discovered that the trail needs a lot of work done to it to make it safe and welcoming for the families and kids in the community. As we all know there is a lot of work that needs to be done to the trail but with the help of Penn State Berks, Reading community and various organization on April 23 from 8am to 1pm there will be a big clean up event that take place on the Schuylkill River Trail. We hope to see many students from Penn State there so we can help make Reading Beautiful again.

  1. I think the clean up event was a good idea. If there is a lot of trash along the trail not too many people would probably want to walk on it. So this project was good because the environment got cleaned up and therefore making it more attractive for people to want to walk on the trail again.

  2. I think you guys did a great job. I did not know up until now how much trash was along that trail from being dumped by careless people from the city. It’s very cool how you all went out with others to help clean up the trail and i hope it stays as clean in the future. Great job

  3. I think this is awesome what you guys are doing. I hope we can clean up the trial so that it will be better for when people are on it.
