Today, we had the opportunity to present our EACAP project as well as our research paper to students in Gaige. There was plenty of foot traffic, and we had a few students stop by & say hi. It was nice giving an overview of what our project entailed, and the direction we took with it.

Friday Eacap Meeting
Our team collectively met today to didcuss our progress on research for our outline. Since we struggled to find the plants we wanted for our project at Home Depot, we decided to drive over to Walmart and see what their garden center had to offer. Unfortunately, there really wasn’t a selection at all to choose from. Therefore, we agreed that we may have to go along with succulents we saw at Home Depot to best complete this project. We are very excited to get started on our pot decorations!
What we plan to do
As our environmental project comes to a start this semester, In the Green anticipates making it a fun, educational experience for the Glenside Elementary students. Our chosen project is the classroom plants, which we are very excited to get started on. Here’s what we look forward to accomplishing during our time at Glenside. First, we determined that writing a how-to-guide for each class on planting their specific plant would help them understand the process. Next, our team will choose the plants that we believe will suit the theme we plan on introducing for the students. We decided that associating the plants with cartoons for the students will make the experience more amusing and hopefully memorable for their learning purposes. Once we choose our plants, we will decorate the pots according to the cartoon theme for the class. And finally, we will work with the students to planting the seeds, and go over the steps of caring for the plant.
We are In the Green
We are the In the Green team, and this upcoming fall we will be working at Glenside Elementary on an environmental project. We are a team of 4 Penn State Berks students, who each have an interest in learning more about and contributing to environmental health.

As mentioned at the beginning of the post, we are working with Glenside this semester on either the classroom plants or the greenhouse project. Our interest lies mostly with the classroom plants project, but we do want to learn more about both opportunities to find the best fit for us. We each care about a safe and healthy environment and plan on working hard to make this opportunity a success. Ultimately, we look forward to helping the youth understand the importance of environmental sustainability.
