Throughout the semester doing the EACAP project, Not only myself but my team member learned a good bit about the environment. Early in the project we lost one team member, but Kaylie and I didn’t let that bother us and got the work we needed to get done done. We learned a lot of new tips on recycling and where to and not to throw your waste. We learned/saw how well of a community such as Reading can come together and clean up a section of the trail to make it look great in the end.
These are just two pictures from our first day out on the trail of cleanup. There was tons of trash, too much to take photos of. These were just some of the examples of what people throw down on the trail.
Kaylie and I met with Ali the head of the Schuylkill River trail. She discussed what we will be doing. We will be cleaning up trash that is left there, pull out shrubs and dead plants, and plant new plants.
Our group decided to do the research topic on waste management. We are thinking of doing it on the whole country and possibly doing it locally here in Berks County as well.
Here are two more pictures Kaylie and I took when we were out on the clean up day on the 23rd. These are some more big items that people dump along the trail. Good thing is after the second day of clean up. The trail looks 10x better then what it did when we went on the first day.
