Environments?!? What do you think?!?

On Friday, October 28 my team and I assisted the Penn State Berks Sustainability Team here on campus. B and S Incorporated jumped on the oppurtunity to welcome the fifth graders, staff and faculty coming from Glenside Elementary School in Reading Pa. My team assisted the fifth graders by leading our own paint station. At this station, Ben Sam M and Sam G asked the students to construct a painting of their environment. We asked students what they thoughtimg_1368 of when they heard the word environment and watched over them to make sure that they would not make a mess. Once the fifth graders completed their paintings we took their artwork and left it in front of the window to dry.The whole time this was going on my team was given the task to make sure the students had all of the materials they needed. In between station switches my team and I had to run to the bathroom and wash their brushes and water cups and make sure the station was ready for the next group of kids. Once time ran out for painting Ben, Sam G and I joined the fifth graders on a tour around our campus which ultimately ended once we got to the greenhouse. The fifth graders returned from the greenhouse and my team assisted in cleaning up and packing away the materials that we used for the field trip. Overall, we all agree that it was a fulfilling experience to give back to the community! Each of us believe that the best form of action regarding the environment is to continually spread education and get as many people as possible acclimated to what is happening in our environment today. img_1367

To Give Back…

B and S Incorporated thought of ways that we could contribute to our community and then we were faced with the EACAP project. Our team decided that we are going to join forces with the Sustainability Team here on campus. On October 28, 2016 we have all volunteered our time to help the Sustainability Team conduct a field trip for the fifth graders that will be arriving from Glenside. Together, we will be helping set up stations, cleaning up stations, creating handouts and various other activities to help educate the fifth graders on the environment. Each member of our team is looking forward to helping out and feel honored to be given the opportunity to help give back to our community here at Berks!

B and S Incorporated is coming to help YOU.

Hello our Team name is B and S incorporated. The members of our team are as follows: Sam Marks, Ben Wanner and Sam Gonzalez. For our EACAP project we will be assisting the Sustainability Team with the field trip that is planned for the 5th graders of Glenside. We will help conduct experiments and guide students through the day with knowledgable activities! All of us are excited for our time here at Penn State Berks and are ready to make this year a great start to our college careers! We look forward to learning more about the environment and how we can help!

Sam Marks: Ahoy! Currently I am a freshman here at Penn State Berks and plan on switching my major from journalism to Marketing and Advertising with a minor in journalism. Here at Berks I have signed up and am now a member of the Outdoors Club. I enjoy spending my time outside and I am always looking for a new place to go and hangout with my friends. I am looking forward to the EACAP project because I enjoy working with people and I am ready to take on a mentor role and help assist the 5th graders throughout the day!

Ben Wanner: How-do-you-do? My name is Ben Wanner and like Sam I am currently a freshman at Penn State Berks. My current major is Criminal Justice and I plan to some day become a state trooper. I am a member of the Berks baseball team and outdoors club. I was a boy scout for 8 years before quitting. During those 8 years I participated in multiple efforts to preserve and clean up the environment. It’s been a while since I’ve done anything to really impact the environment in a positive way and i’m looking forward to helping the 5th graders learn about the environment.

Samantha Gonzalez: Hello! My name is Samantha Gonzalez and like the others I am also a freshman here at Penn State Berks. Here at Penn State Berks I am majoring in Political Science and then will be attending Law School after my time here at Penn State and hope to become the Secretary of State one day! I am on the Women’s Volleyball team here at Penn State Berks, Cheer Squad, I am also involved in Student Government, THON, and World Affairs. I am huge on saving the environment. My mom is part of the Recycling Organization at Penn State Health St. Joe’s so she always influenced me to save the environment and keep the world clean. We will be helping out with the 5th graders that will be coming to visit here and while they are here I will be helping them learn about the environment and the importance of keeping the world clean. img_1275
