Thrive to Survive Reflects

This semester has been a great semester for our team and our project turned out very well! We loved working together and broadening our horizons on these very important subjects. Many important lessons have been learned on waste and about the garbage patch and will effect our lives forever. Every time I drink a bottle of something from now on, I am going to assure it returns to a place that will break it down effectively and safely. This project really helped us with our teamwork and communication skills as it required a lot of outside of classroom work and effort. This semester has been very valuable to our whole team and we have all bonded in a great way!

Community Awareness Day!!

Today was the day! We presented over and over again our wonderful research and service components. The turn out was great and we had such a fun time sharing our knowledge and learning with you guys! The other teams’ projects were all looking just as good as we walked around and heard from them as well. We had a good day!

Thrive and Survive Putting in Work

Today around 11:30 AM the team met in the library to get some serious stuff done. We worked together and collaborated on a lot of different ideas before deciding on a few specific quotes we’d like to write on windows and some specific ideas we’d like to incorporate in our flyers. It was a very good meeting and very productive! A lot of work got done and our meeting finished around 12:15.

Newsletter Update: Planning Stages

On Friday September 23, 2016 at around 10:45, the EACAP groups working on the newsletter met to discuss the project. The meeting was led by Dr. Kazempour, who described the newsletter as a vehicle for reaching the study body on the topic of sustainability. Among the topics, the groups discussed spotlighting members from the Penn State Berks Sustainability Team, faculty and staff making efforts toward greater environmental awareness, writing articles gauging student interest in recycling, looking at issues in the community, and initiatives taken up by departments around campus. The newsletter will be a collaborative effort between the three teams, Thrive and Survive. Length and serial publication dates will be discussed at a later meeting.

Elizabeth: I am a freshman at Penn State Berks. I am going for Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education. I don’t have many interests I guess, I just really enjoy photography.
Nate: I’m a junior at Penn State Berks. I transferred from Penn State Lehigh Valley this semester and I am a Professional Writing major. I love football, writing, and cars.
Justin: I’m a freshman at Penn State Berks. I am majoring in business. I love to play basketball.
Amelia: I am a freshman at Penn State Berks. I am going for hospitality management. I love to hangout with friends and go for adventures. I am a very outgoing and friendly individual.
We are going to be working with Dr. Kazempour on the Newsletter. We are interested in gaining knowledge about our environment around us. We are excited to be able to inform others about what we are learning about.
