Summing Up Schuylkill River Project- Skook Squad (May 3, 2016)

As the semester is coming to an end, our group the Skook Squad would like to reflect on everything we did this semester. As a group, we chose to do the clean up on the Schuylkill River Trail. Honestly, we didn’t expect the service to be as much work as it actually turned out to be! There was a lot of trash on the trail and we put a lot of effort towards the clean up. Our powerpoint is on the bottom and thanks for a great semester!

Final Post – Green Invaders (May 2, 2016)

This Project has taught us a lot about cleaning the environment and how communities such as Reading can benefit from a clean urban trail. By participating in this project we learned a lot on how local business illegally dump their waste on the trail. This service learning projected also gave us the opportunity to work side by side with other organizations who helped gave us an insight on the problems the trial brings to the community.  We are very pleased with the results of our service learning project and we hope that this continues throughout the years.

Joe Briddock:

I am in my second year at Penn State Berks. I am a political science major. I love anything outdoors so I look forward to the opportunity of participating in keeping the trail clean.

 

Mike Cescon:

I am a freshman at Penn State Berks. I am currently planning on majoring in Undecided, which is one of my favorite subjects. I like hiking and being in the outdoors in general, so helping to keep trails clean interested me more than the other projects.

Alex Doyle:

I am a senior at Penn State Berks and I am a Kinesiology major. I love to play sports and be in the outdoors so keeping the environment clean is important to me.

Ed Smerlick

I am currently a senior kinesiology major here at Penn State Berks. I love the outdoors, and would be willing do help in protecting the enviroment in any possible manner.
