Best Practices for Recording your Classroom Lecture

Use the Canvas-Zoom integration to record and post your lectures

  1. Activate Zoom and Media Gallery in your Canvas course, and schedule your class sessions
  2. Prior to beginning class, check that the digital ink is working with your presentation files. If using a Wacom monitor, you may need to calibrate the pen.
  3. Put on the classroom microphone.
  4. Launch your pre-scheduled Zoom meetings at the start of each class period by opening your Canvas course and navigating to Zoom in the course menu. Here you can start the zoom meeting for that day’s class
  5. Begin Zoom recording (if not set to automatically record)
  6. Share computer screen
  7. End Zoom recording at end of class
  8. Direct students to Media Gallery to view recorded class (recordings will typically appear in the media gallery 3-4 hours after the class period).
