Firstly, I hope it’s alright that I’m not posting more ideas for my Passion blog; I’m very happy with my current topic of analyzing songs and writing about them, so much so that I might carry this blog on past RCL, and I’m very much looking forward to continuing with it.
One idea I have for the This I Believe project is simply to focus on kindness. Without being too painfully sappy, my worldview incorporates affording people kindness and the benefit of the doubt, within reason. If I can find a specific enough way to write about it, I’d love to focus on that. Another idea I have is to once again write about music. My concern with that idea is the feasibility of putting my ideas and feelings toward music into words, but if I could accomplish that it would be very worthwhile.
I want my Civic Issues blog to focus on identities and rights, intersecting with another theme which I haven’t quite determined yet. It would be interesting to think about identities and rights as they play out in sports, based on comparisons of men’s and women’s sports leagues, rules of competition for transgender athletes, and other gender-based factors that go into athletics. I would also consider analyzing political hysteria, charismatic leaders, and the commonalities between various extreme political movements and their basis in facts or lack thereof.
Your ideas for Civic Issues seem really interesting. I think intersecting gender and athletics is a really cool idea. You seem really passionate about your This I Believe topic so I recommend you keep it and really focus on finding the right words.
