The purpose of this PSA is to lower the risk of CHD in middle aged African American businessmen who travel on business and frequently dine in restaurants. This talk will be given at a monthly business meeting of a business employing a professional workforce. Because of this the target audience is middle aged African American businessman. The goals of this talk are to inform the target audience of ways to make heart healthy choices at restaurants, the risks factors of CHD, how to read nutrition labels. Our completed needs assessment showed that these men are at risk for coronary heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, etc. All of these risks are caused by a high fat diet.

The Social Ecological Model is the best theory to apply during the production of our PSA. There are a lot of specific individual, interpersonal and cultural components that go into making choices for food in restaurants and convenience stores. By using the Social ecological theory, we can easily target African American men by tailoring our education to those three levels that affect their food choices. For example, the individual aspect is the nutrition knowledge of the businessmen, the interpersonal aspect are the eating behaviors of coworkers and family members, the organizational level is the fact that they are traveling for business, the type of food provided and the values of the company (health incentives, lunch breaks, reimbursements), the community level addresses the cultural norms and values surrounding African American men and the public policy level addresses the nutrition information provided at restaurants and how accessible the information is. Factors to consider include the environment they grew up in and how they ate growing. Additionally, there are cultural differences in African American culture compared to the typical diet. The Social ecological theory is the best theory that embodies that above.
Within our group, we have assigned specific roles to be successful in creating our PSA. Emily will be the film editor because she has the most experience using iMovie. Addie will be in charge of collecting the research we need using the databases provided. Kim is the scriptwriter so that our footage is rehearsed and clear. Lexi will be starring in the PSA because of her experience in performing and Marissa will provide us with clear and easy to understand voice overs during the PSA. The sources we have found to base our PSA off of are:
