Peculiar Wine Bottle.

I found this while looking for interesting topological shapes. It is a wine bottle, Klein Bottle style. It it is a marvel to observe unless you are the one pouring wine into it —is it “into it”? I am not sure. Because of vapor-lock it takes a relatively long time to fill. As wine is going down —or is it up? or around? whichever the way— air is trying to get out by opposing the flow of liquid. There is no other place for the air to go.

As impractical as it is elegant.

The real challenge is not pouring liquids “in” or  “out.” There is far more nobility for the brave who attempts to clean this marvel. Because of its design moisture does not evaporate much. When it does, it does not go very far. By itself this is not troubling, but add in its shape and the source of nobility in achieving this feat becomes clear—unless the bottle is not.

The creator of this bottle cleans it with magnets wrapped around a cotton cloth. Talk about ingenuity.

Guaranteed to frustrate even the most dedicated wine connoisseur: it's difficult to fill, difficult to pour, and difficult to clean.

If you are known for your patience test it out today by getting your very own Acme’s Wine Bottle Klein Bottle today at http://www.kleinbottle.com/wine_bottle_klein_bottle.html.

The Acme in the name is not coincidental. Ask Wile E. Coyote.

Clifford Stoll makes these bottles, here is his TED video http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/en/clifford_stoll_on_everything.html. These bottles come up at about 4:30 into the video.

Note: I have written mostly from the website mentioned above with some twists here and there.
