We Listen creates intentional spaces in which members of the Penn State community tell their own stories of lived experience, and listen to those told by others. It explores who we are as a community, giving voice to what is often unheard and unnoticed with the aim of shifting awareness of difference, and provoking new approaches to addressing it. The process is grounded in the assumption that meaningful human interaction involves risk, care, and openness.
Since Fall 2011, students, faculty, and staff have collected over 300 stories from our campus. Please join our team to encourage listening and appreciation of the diverse stories and perspectives here at Penn State Harrisburg. Contact Louisa at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
We Listen is the first Penn State diversity program funded by the Equal Opportunity Planning Committee to be implemented on multiple campuses. Check out the We Listen website at http://welisten.psu.edu/ to see what’s happening on our campus and others!
