Here’s a quick follow-up from last week’s sort session. Of the ~80 specimens I prepared I ended up adding three species, one genus, and one family(!) that were new to the collection:
- Pelecotoma flavipes Melsheimer, 1846 (Coleoptera: Ripiphoridae)
- Canifa (Coleoptera: Scraptiidae) – new genus and family for us!
- Malthinus occipitalis LeConte, 1851 (Coleoptera: Cantharidae)
- Pseudometagea schwarzii (Ashmead) (Hymenoptera: Eucharitidae)
Outstanding!
This week we initiated a large-scale reorganization of the spider collection. Epic!
This process has revealed all kinds of surprises, which will be discussed off and on as we explore them a bit further. It’ll take us at least into next week to finish the sorting and re-labeling. One new fixation for me is an Antrodiaetus unicolor specimen (a female!) that was collected in Toftrees. Wowzer! More later.
