callow butterfly,
flashes glittery wings
on fresh dung
Today is the last day to submit your arthropod-themed poems to the resurgent Hexapod Haiku contest. It’s as easy as sending it/them in an email to frost.museum@psu.edu by midnight tonight. Send as many as you want!
The haiku above represents a moment in the Scotia Barrens this week. I was hunting for galls, while a newly emerged lycaenid flitted around a puddle of mud (making it a turd seemed more effective). Where do you look for inspiration?
