Thank you so much to everyone who participated in this year’s Hexapod Haiku Challenge, we are finally ready to report the results. There were more than 200 entries(!), and it was incredibly difficult for the judges to narrow the field and select our three haiku poet laureates for each category (ages 12 and under, older than 12). They haiku were so good, in fact, that we’ve decided to designate three Haiku Laureates for each category, rather than our usual two, and we will later also highlight a list of poems that deserve honorable mention.
We send a special thanks to our judges, especially Anne Burgevin and DJ McNeil. The discussions were fun and insightful, and I know they spent a lot of time reading and contemplating these wonderful poems.
Clearly the time has come to make this an annual event again, so watch this blog next spring for an announcement! Now, on to the results …
