Visual Attention During a Spreadsheet Task

The Applied Cognitive Science Lab kindly invites you to participate in a study titled “Visual attention during a spreadsheet task”.

There have been many studies to evaluate user performance and develop a user model, however, these studies are not fully considering visual attention. This study will develop a user model that simulates visual attention.

The study is voluntary and you may decide at any time not to participate in this research. If you agree to take part in the research study, it will take about 30 minutes, a single session study, and the research will be conducted in the Outreach Building in Innovation Park (100 Innovation Blvd., State College, PA 16802) Experimental Room 324A. You can use red line shuttle. You will be asked to complete a sequence of tasks in Excel, and your data will be collected using an eye tracking system. Precautions will be taken to maintain the confidentiality of your data.

You will be offered $12 cash for participation in the study. For detailed information, please review the Consent Form, which will be reviewed with you prior to the research session.

Your participation in this research will be of great importance to assist instructional design knowledge, and in developing a deeper understanding of cognitive load.

If you are interested in participating in the study, or have any questions related to the study, please contact Farnaz Tehranchi at fjt5064@psu.edu.

If you are interested please reach out as soon as possible.
