I hope you all enjoyed your break and are excited to come back to another week of reading blogs. Last post I wrote about some of my favorite Brazilian foods and why I think they are so good and why I think some people should try them. To give you some idea of what Brazilian restaurants in America should look like, this week I am going to write about some of my favorite Brazilian restaurants from my hometown in Connecticut. These restaurants should give you an idea of what to keep an eye out for if you are ever in search of good Brazilian food in an area near you.
The first restaurant is a buffet-style restaurant named Minas Carne located in the downtown area of my hometown. The location of this restaurant is actually very convenient as it is right near the main campus of the college in my town. Not only does this restaurant attract college students but it attracts a lot of other people as well such as police officers and native Brazilians. In this restaurant, you can get breakfast foods such as pao de queijo that I wrote about in the last post or you can go ahead and grab yourself lunch and dinner with their endless options of meals. You can make your own plate filling it up with vegetables, rice, beans, pasta, and many other traditional and classic Brazilian foods. Once you are done putting the food on the plate, you go ahead to the meat station where the employees allow you to choose the type of meat you want and they will grab it from their barbecue section where they leave their meats slowly cooking throughout the day. You can pick from steak cooked any way you’d like, chicken breast either with bacon or not wrapped in bacon, you can pick pork, chicken wings, sausage, and spicy sausage. You can pick through drinks as well and once you are done with your meal and you feel as if you have left a spot for dessert, you can go ahead and pick from a bunch of different Brazilian sweets such as brigadeiros. I grew up going to this restaurant my entire life and it has become a large part of my life and the food will never, not be good to me.
Another restaurant in my hometown that I also grew up going to is a restaurant called Planeta Brazil (planet Brazil). This restaurant has to be one of my least favorite ones from home. This restaurant has undergone a lot of construction and decoration throughout its time in my hometown, and it has also gone through multiple owners which changes its dynamic completely over and over again. This restaurant is styled a little bit differently compared to Minas Carne. Although this restaurant does also have a buffet-style option, this option is mostly used for people who are on the go or are having lunch or early dinner. This restaurant is a little bit fancier and less casual as you are meant to get dressed up to go out to dinner at this restaurant as they have a sit-down option where you can get a waiter to come and serve you. They also have live music on the weekends and great parties. Although due to the number of changes that the restaurant has gone through, the food never really is the same and this severely diminishes the taste of the food and it does not really do it for me.
So if you are ever traveling or sitting at home and in the mood to try some different food, Brazilian food is the way to go and you should be on the lookout for more casual buffer styled food as those will be the restaurants with the most options and the better food as it is a more homestyle cooked version of the foods.
