Welcome to Penn State Greater Allegheny in McKeesport, a small community in southwestern Pennsylvania and located just 15 miles from the vibrant City of Pittsburgh! We are the only Penn State campus in Allegheny County, a county that is home to over 30,000 Penn State alumni. When you hear that Penn Staters are everywhere, that is certainly true in this region. There are many things that make Penn State a special place, and our people are one example of that. Penn Staters are known for taking care of one another.
Each year, Penn State Greater Allegheny awards over $350,000 in scholarships through the support of University awards and our alumni and friends who have generously established funds for our current students. The opportunities you will have at Penn State are many! You can select from more than 275 majors, most of which you can begin on our 52-acre campus. You can get involved in clubs and organizations, travel, compete, and volunteer. Many students who begin their college career at Penn State Greater Allegheny decide to stay here to complete their degree, because they realize our close-knit community with dedicated staff and nationally and internationally recognized faculty are invested in their success.

The iconic Nittany Lion Shrine is a prominent feature on the Buck Lawn. Both students and alumni enjoy having their picture taken with the lion or just settling on one of the nearby benches for a quiet moment. The Nittany Lion is the proud symbol of the University, uniting future, current, and former Penn Staters for a lifetime.
