This research group focuses on the design, operation and management of resilient urban transportation networks. To study these systems, we develop physically consistent models of component interactions (i.e., how vehicles or roadway infrastructure influence the behavior of nearby vehicles). In particular, we focus on the aggregate outcomes of these interactions that can be used to describe network-wide behavior. Our goal is to use these types of models to identify policies and strategies that improve the efficiency, safety and sustainability of transport.
