If you haven’t already, Spring 2023 is a great time to take Penn State’s Safer People, Safer Places training to support our LGBTQIA+ community members!

Penn State’s Center for Gender and Sexual Diversity offers two valuable courses that help faculty and staff build awareness, understanding, and skills for supporting LGBTQIA+ students, faculty, and staff.

Faculty in Geosciences who complete both trainings, have at least one other senior research group member (post doc or graduate student, for example) complete both trainings, and are committed to maintaining an open and inclusive research group can become part of the EMS Rainbow Network and listed on the EMS website. https://www.ems.psu.edu/diversity/ems-rainbow-network

More information about being an active ally to the LGBTQIA+ community can be found here: https://www.ems.psu.edu/diversity/active-ally-resources#lgbtq—1774 and the Center for Gender and Sexual Diversity has a number of resources for students, faculty, and staff: https://studentaffairs.psu.edu/csgd
