As faculty and staff, we can help students and each other bring our full selves to our community by being aware of the faith traditions of our colleagues and students.

Initiate and invite discussions of any potential accommodations that students and members of your research teams may need. Particularly if you are leading fieldwork or field trips, be aware of observances that overlap with your plans. Publishing assignments in advance and providing plenty of time for students to complete their work is helpful for everyone.

During the fall semester, you may have students in your class observing the Jewish High Holidays, with days where work, including writing, is not permitted.  Be mindful that some students may wish to complete assignments ahead of time. Providing ample time for students to complete assignments supports all our students manage their workloads and balance their coursework with other parts of their life.
