Volunteer opportunities at upcoming STEM Workshop for Girl Scouts – Sat Nov 4

The Penn State Graduate Women in Science (GWIS) organization is holding our biannual Girl Scout Workshop on Saturday, November 4, 2017. Last semester, this event brought in over 50 middle and high school girls from Centre County and surrounding areas! The event allows young women to engage in hands-on activities in STEM. We are hoping to bring in more girls this semester and have more workshops available for the girls to choose from! We also plan on ending the day with a team building activity so the girls can work in a group to solve a STEM related problem.

This semester, our theme is “Science @ Home- STEM in Your Everyday Life”. Our goal is to increase the girls’ confidence in science projects and their understanding of how STEM impacts their everyday lives! Possible workshop ideas include the science of candy and gardening with science.

We are seeking proposals for interactive workshops (workshop designers) and day-of volunteers. Please see below for more information and please email us if you have any questions. Thank you in advance for your interest and commitment to inspiring our next generation of STEM leaders!
