Fall, 2011, Spring 2012 – I taught ESL Classes for Employees of Cargill Industries, Hazleton, PA. Students wrote an original recipe cookbook using meat and other products sold by Cargill.

Spring 2013 – Dr. Glick at the Concerned Parents’ Office, with Spanish 001 and 002 Penn State students: William Skuba, Dillon Nemia and Heath Ferris. Tutoring students in Hazleton, PA.

Summer 2013, Joined Panel Discussion on June 5, to discuss problems facing Hazleton.
Summer 2013, One week Summer Camp titled “Mi ABC/ My ABC” at One Community Center, Hazleton, PA. Pre-Kindergarten students reviewed the alphabet, numbers, sang color songs, played I Spy games, and engaged in basic bilingual conversations. Co-organized with Jennifer Rutkowski, a sophomore at King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, PA
Sep 11, 2013. PSU Students Attend the Lecture by Latino Photographer José Gálvez, a Pulitzer-prize winner, who documented the lives of the Latino population in several states. He has published two books: “Vatos” and “Shine Boy”. The lecture took place at King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, PA
Some of the students who attended were: Gabriel Toledo, Daniel Espinal, Felicia Holderman and Andy Persaud.
November, 2013 Attended International Conference of Education, Research, and Innovation in Sevilla, Spain. Presented a poster on a Three Month Longitudinal Comparison of Synchronous Computer Mediated Communication (SCMS) in First and Second Semester Spanish College Courses.
December, 2013. PSU Students tutored at the Education Center for Migrant Students in Hazleton, PA. They also interacted in Spanish with members of the band Mystic Warriors/ Guerreros Místicos who came to play on the 15 October at the Butler Student Center. Students also listened to Nigerian painter Ibiyinka Alao who gave a presentation at the Education of Art Course taught at Penn State / Hazleton by Prof. Maureen Gaffney. The following students wrote articles on all of these subjects: Terri Thomas, Gabriella Shermanski, Felicia Holderman and Jonathan Abu.
April 2018 – 2nd Modern Language Undergraduate Conference at East Stroudsburg University
Student: Risell Ventura Batista presented in Spanish a paper titled: “Un estudio de la mujer en los medios de comunicación de la República Dominicana” / “A Study of Women in the Media in the Dominican Republic”
Risell Ventura Batista also discussed her research at the Pennsylvania State University/ Hazleton campus Research Fair, April 2018 where she won 2nd place for the Information Literacy Award in recognition of her outstanding annotated bibliography. Congratulations, Risell! ¡Enhorabuena, Risell!
November, 2018 – Penn State students enrolled in Spanish courses meet their high school Pen Pals from the CSIU 16 Migrant Education Program, Hazleton, PA. After a tour of the campus, several Penn State students answered questions about life at Penn State. About ten students from the CSIU 16 Migrant Education Program attended this event. The coordinators were Sabrina Krupko, Allen Koehler, Dr. Beatriz García Glick, and Susan Luna.
