Hello everyone! Let me start by saying that I have no idea what I’m doing as far as blogging goes. But here goes… My name is Yolandi, I am currently finishing my BS in organizational leadership and have two more semesters to go. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I work full time at a hospital association in Cleveland, OH where I am vice president of our supply chain division. I live in Copley, OH with my husband and two daughters. My goals include continuing to grow as a leader, it’s not so much about title as it is about respect and feeling like I am making a difference. I am also committed to being a role model for my daughters and supporting their young minds and hearts! In my current position I lead a team of 19 which includes sales, customer service, contract negotiation and operations. I’m charged with developing long term strategy and drive execution of those strategies. I have to say that I have a fantastic team in place.
I love this quote by Nelson Mandela because it’s something that can be applied to every single challenge in personal issues as well as in a business context. “The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”
Frequently people will not even try, because of a fear of failure, but I believe that if you stand up and move forward from a set back, this gives you valuable life and business lessons. You get to know yourself and improve yourself this way, and I don’t think you can be a leader without knowing yourself first.
Best wishes for a successful semester!
