Hi class of OLED 410. My name is Don Cole and I currently reside in our nations capital, Washington DC. I’m excited to meet and interact with you all and look forward to learning a lot. I have a bit of leadership and management experience that I’ve acquired over 20+ years of work. That being said, I definitely consider myself a novice and I’m always looking to be better. I currently lead a team of about 20 software programmers.
Right now I don’t have any definitive educational goals. After a couple decades away from school, I felt the desire to participate in some structured learning beyond just reading a book. I’m married and have three children. Twin daughters just finishing high school and heading to collage and a son who just turned 16. It’s a very full and crazy life. World Campus fit my work life perfectly.
I have a lot of quotes that I annoy my family and colleagues with and I’m definitely a lemons to lemonade type of person. But the one quote that I live my life by is from Winston Churchill. “If you’re going through hell, keep going”. Most of us have experienced tough times. Personal, financial, career, etc. I just refuse to let them beat me.
No photos to publish. Suffice it to say I look a 1% like Brad Pitt.
I wish you all the best and look forward to learning from everyone.
Regards,
Don

It is great to have you in this class Don. I agree completely about structure being needed sometime. I take faculty development classes for that purpose as there is only so much reading you can do on your own without interacting with others and seeing where what you know fits. I look forward to working with you.
