My name is Jamie Miller; I currently live in a suburb of Austin, Texas, called Pflugerville. I have been married for 24 years, and we have a 21-year-old son. My close-knit family also consists of one dog and three cats. I am currently a senior (graduating this semester) pursuing my B.A. in Organization Leadership with a minor in Labor Relations. I have taken several of Dr. Redmond’s classes, and I am looking forward to this one, as well.
Something interesting about me is I am adventurous. I have skydived, bungee jumped, been zip lining in Mexico, swam a mile in an underground river, etc. I love warm weather and beach/water activities.
I did not start my academic journey until I turned forty. I have asked myself the question, “Why are you making the choice to attend college as an adult student?” a million times. I have finally come to the conclusion, why not. I am not getting any younger, and this is something that I want for myself. I have worked for the same consulting firm for the last 19 years. I am currently the Vice President of Billing Operations and responsible for all business operations of four different companies owned by the same parent company. I am currently in a leadership position and hope taking this course will provide me additional tools when working with a diverse workforce.
Good Luck this semester!

Jamie congratulations for having the courage to go to school!
I am in the same boat and can definitely relate; I started back about 3 years ago and am getting ready to see 45 next week! It might take me longer, but between being a full-time mom, worker, wife, and caregiver to my mom I am not giving up!!
Good luck this semester.

Hi Jamie, good luck and congratulations on almost graduating!
We have similar stories, I’m also 40 years old and I’ve asked myself the same questions over and over the past few years. Why now? That has put a hold on me continuing my education for some time now but this time around I said to myself, “nothing will stop me from beginning and completing this goal.” I believe we will accomplish our goals when the time is right and it seems like that time is now. I’m also pursuing my BA in Organizational Leadership.
I wish you lots of luck this semester and in your future adventures.

Welcome Jamie! It is great to get to know a little more about you. I think that it is very admirable that you are pursuing your degree because of “why not?” In reality that shows that you are someone who cares about growing as an individual. I look forward to working with you again.
