Student Organization Funding

We want to empower all students to participate in creating a Global Penn State! Penn State Global provides financial support to registered intercultural/multicultural student organizations at Penn State.

OUR PURPOSE

The purpose of this funding is to carry out Penn State Global’s strategic goals of creating a global environment at Penn State.

OUR INITIATIVE

Imperative to this initiative are global citizenship and global leadership, both of which require student engagement and a strong commitment from student organizations.

FUNDING REQUIREMENTS

1. Student organizations must be recognized by the Student Activities Office in the HUB to apply for funding. Faculty, staff, and community organizations are also eligible for Penn State Global funding.

 

2. Student organizations should be aware of the maximum request amount, which is set at a range of $1,000-$2,000 PER ACADEMIC YEAR from Penn State Global. This request amount is regulated to provide valuable funding to a large number of student organizations.

 

3. Penn State Global funding is intended for on-campus events that are accessible to the Penn State community.

Student Organization Funding

What Funds CANNOT be Used On?

APPLY

Apply 3-4 weeks before the event to ensure the transfer of funds (if approved).

MEET

Meet with Global Coordinators or Global Engagement Assistants in (Boucke 407 / Zoom) to discuss the application. You will receive a meeting invitation once your application is reviewed.

DECISION

Receive an approval or rejection letter within 2 business days of your meeting. If you do not receive an email with a letter after 5 business days have passed, please email globalengagement@psu.edu.

post-event report

If approved, submit the Post-Event Report Survey within two weeks of the event.

Funding Timeline

Penn State Global can financially sponsor events. Any registered intercultural/multicultural student organizations at University Park may approach us to support an event that aims at benefitting all students.

UPAC 10% RULE

Derived from the UPAC Requestor Handbook, “Requestors are responsible for a MINIMUM of ten percent (10%) of their total program cost”. In other words, Penn State Global can only cover up to 90% of the total cost of the event.
