Zambia

In the summer of 2015, two teams of students from the Humanitarian Engineering & Social Entrepreneurship (HESE) Program traveled to Zambia to pilot our affordable greenhouses. Five greenhouse structures were built in the towns of Choma, Zimba, Siachitema, Jembo, and outside the limits of the capital of Lusaka. These greenhouses are being operated by a range of different organizational structures – an entrepreneur, a women’s cooperative, a church, and health clinics.

While four of these five greenhouses have become operational, our greenhouse venture in Zambia remains in development. GRO Greenhouses continues to evaluate the market and the practicality of launching a full-scale venture before beginning the sale of our greenhouses.
