Announcing the GTREO Seminar Series

We’re excited to announce a series of seminars focused on giving our graduate students a wider appreciation for the field, insight into career options, and opportunities to network with folks from the industry. Given the cancellation of many in-person events due to COVID-19, including Turbo Expo, the UTSR meeting, and a workshop we had planned at PSU on sensing in harsh environments, our graduate students will have much less exposure to industry and government during this time of social distancing. However, we recognize that learning from and networking with industry and government professionals is a critical part of a graduate education in gas turbine technologies, and one that highly value at Penn State. With this in mind, we have designed a seminar series to provide students some of these opportunities, even if they are on Zoom.

Our first seminar will be held on Thursday, October 22 from 3-5 PM with speaker Steve Csonka, the executive director of CAAFI – the Commercial Aviation Alternative Fuels Initiative. The first hour will be a seminar that all are invited to attend, and the second hour will be a networking opportunity for graduate students only. The seminar flier is attached and zoom registration information is below. Our next two seminars will be held later in the semester and will feature Dr. Sean Bradshaw from Pratt and Whitney and Dr. Sydni Credle from the National Energy Technologies Laboratory.
