Being at Penn State this summer was an amazing opportunity and experience!
When I was first accepted into the LEAP program here at PSU, I was initially very excited. I soon realized what that meant, and thought through the fact that I wouldn’t have most of my summer, and was not happy about it. My parents told me it was going to be a good experience and it would definitely be worth it, but I wasn’t so sure. This is the summer after my senior year, I wanted to be spending as much time with my friends as possible before everyone goes off to college in the fall. I tried to see the benefits and have a decent attitude about it as I left Lancaster in route to State College.
Turns out, this summer at Penn State was amazing. Even though I couldn’t be with my friends from home very much, I was able to make many new friends here on campus. On top of that, I now have 6 credits under my belt heading into the fall semester. I got to know the campus, and began to develop some good habits such as study techniques. I discovered good places to eat, such as the Deli and Allen Street Grill, and where not to eat, such as Canyon Pizza and Are U Hungry. Knowing that I can buy anything and everything that I might need at McLanahan’s will be very helpful for the next few years. I learned a lot from both of my professors about the subjects I was studying, as well as what to expect my first full semester in the fall. Now that I have been here for a couple months I feel much more prepared to take on my first year at Penn State!
