Pipeline Restoration Day: Considerations for Effective Site Restoration

This program is geared for agency, industry, environmental consultants, organizational & hunting club managers who oversee midstream land restoration projects.

Ph. D. candidate Lacey Goldberg will present design recommendations for shale gas and pipeline development and aspects of her research in scenic conservation, and also discuss related projects from Marcellus by Design.

Field day participants will be introduced to topics
essential for efficient site restorations, including:

  • Planning for shale gas development in forested ecosystems
  • Invasive species management
  • Management strategies to reduce negative environmental &socioeconomic effects
  • Restored pipeline site visit to examine real-world applications

The event is sponsored by PennState Extention and the College of Agricultural Sciences.

About the Author

Lacey K Goldberg
Lacey Goldberg received her MLA in 2014 and is presently working on her dual-title Ph.D. in Architecture and Human Dimensions of Natural Resources and the Environment, both from Penn State. There, she works as a researcher in the Hamer Center for Community Design and as an instructor in Landscape Architecture. Lacey’s graduate work has focused on the visual impacts of energy development, specifically natural gas extractive industries, and their effects on the scenic and cultural landscapes of Pennsylvania and other locales. Her current research focuses on utilizing crowdsourced data and developing procedures for integrating visual and cultural resource conservation into regional scale landscape management plans.
