Research

Dr. Ralph Colby’s research group

From January 2017 (to present), I started as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in Dr. Colby’s group of the Department of Materials Science. Joining the group, I have learned a lot about Rheology, Polymers, and different rheometers – the precious experiences that I cannot find in any courses. Particularly, I work closely with Dr. Behzad Nazari, a professional engineer and a postdoc researcher, to study the Flow-Induced Crystallization of isotactic propylene. I get to work with the Rotational Rheometer Ares-G2 and the optical microscope, through which I make samples, measure crystallization temperatures, and make morphological observations of 6 different iPP at different work, stress, and shear rate. Due to confidentiality requirements, I cannot give you further information on our projects, but please feel free to contact me in person or Dr. Colby (rhc@plmsc.psu.edu) for more information.
