How The Bone Feels to the Dog
By Allison Wolf
Like making a yellow light,
like sleeping in on a rainy day,
like finding 50 dollars on the ground.
Bone and dog stuck together for life,
like ink to paper.
Dog buries bone,
in the boiling black garden soil,
like a killer hides a body.
Bone squeals as the dog clenches down,
like the brakes on an old car.
Slobber avalanches bone,
drool hangs from mouth,
like a tsunami covers the coast.
Bone smells dog’s breath,
to make sure dog hasn’t been cheating,
like a suspicious wife checks her husband’s clothing.
Like two peas in a pod,
like a pair of socks,
like a set of best friends.
Bone and Dog.
