Writings on a Wall
—City Of Asylum, Pittsburgh
by Austin Feathers
There is writing on a wall.
White words on brown boards.
I do not know what the words mean.
But I can tell what they mean.
Not through comprehension but through feelings.
The writer is free and is happy here.
He can write whatever he pleases now.
The writings on this house will bring joy to all.
The words on the wall will bring beginnings to all.
