The doctor’s wife is a great character to focus on throughout this book. Through her experiences in the hospital, she expresses a great deal of leadership and dignity to the others. Because she is the only one with eyesight, many people take advantage of her and make her do a great deal of work. She also sees a lot of the abuse and the undisclosed rape that goes on throughout the hospital. The doctor’s wife is an admirable person and should be looked upon as an inspiration to others who have had similar experiences.
