Day three began in rainy Salzburg. We started off by exploring the town. We were there pretty briefly, but I was still able to appreciate its beauty. We saw Mozart’s birthplace and we walked up about a billion stairs to find this amazing view of the city. There was also a bridge that lovers put locks on and throw away the key like in Paris. It was really cool to see. Then we left the city to explore the salt mines. We were dressed in these really bulky suits, I felt like a supermodel. And then we road a very small train full speed into the center of the mountain, I thought I was about to fall off the entire time. That would have been pretty embarrassing. Then when we were inside the natural thing for people to do was apparently lick the walls to see if it was salty. As if we were not in a literal salt mine. I promise you all it was in fact salty. Then as we trekked deeper into the mountains it was time to go down a slide. It was not your average slide, it was enormous and your legs hung off the sides, and it had this weird divet for your butt. It was super weird, but really fun just like half of the things on this trip. As we continued there was a body of water inside the mountain. The water was put there because it is part of the salt removal process. But it reflected the ceiling, so it did not even look like water. Then we took a boat across it which was really trippy because it still looked like we were floating on rocks. Finally we took the train that practically traveled at the speed of light out back into the world. Now we were in for a long haul to Munich Germany.
When we finally arrived in Munich it was really late and we were all beyond starving. We ate in a quaint little restaurant and had Wiener Schnitzel yet again. But it was really good and nobody received a purple one this time, so that was good. Then we went to find our hotel for the night. Finally Shannon, Mckayla, and I would share a room so we weren’t separated for the night, and when we walked in there was only one bed. We were kind of confused, so we asked Lucas the tour guide and he was also at a loss. But the hotel staff kept insisting that it was supposed to fit three. We were fine with sharing a bed as it was pretty big, but I still kept looking and eventually I found the second bed. It was under the window sill. It was tiny and pulled out. Shannon ended up hitting her head half a dozen times on the window sill. But before we went to bed we decided to get some food from the hotel. We got fries and chocolate cake because calories don’t count when you’re abroad. But then this girl from our group, we’ll call her Jane, well Jane decided we were well acquainted enough for her to just start eating out food and drinking our soda without asking first which was kind of rude. But then it gets worse. She left and went to her room for a minute and comes back with this gross, soggy looking bag. I asked her what was inside and she responded by saying it was a half eaten peach from the day before and she was pretty sure it was going bad. So then she just put it on my plate! I barely knew this girl and she was putting a disgusting peach on my plate. So naturally I chased her down with it like the classy American I am. She actually ran. So I gave up and left it on my plate. I was not very happy with her. But finally we went to bed to get some rest for the upcoming day in Munich.
