Penn State Harrisburg
Onboarding Resource Center
The Penn State Harrisburg Staff Advisory Council, in partnership with The Center for Teaching Excellence and the Office of Human Resources, created this site as a place for new staff and faculty to find information and resources while becoming oriented with their positions, the Harrisburg campus, and its community. Explore the tools and services available to all staff and faculty, and discover ways in which you can contribute to campus life.
At its founding in 1966, Penn State Harrisburg – originally known as the Capitol Campus – began as an upper division and graduate center, one of only three in the nation at the time. In that first year, the campus enrolled 18 undergraduate and 165 graduate students. Today, the college enrolls more than 5,000 students and offers more than 65 associate, bachelors, masters, and doctoral degree programs.
Penn State Harrisburg is a regional leader in higher education and a proud steward of the Penn State name. Our reputation is our hallmark, with nationally accredited programs, award-winning faculty who are accomplished teachers and scholars, and vibrant staff who excel in their fields and actively participate in the campus community.
We are excited and honored that you have chosen to join the Penn State Harrisburg community. As an incoming staff or faculty member, take some time to explore the resources and policies that pertain to your new position, as well as the services and engagement opportunities that make the campus a vibrant, diverse, and fulfilling workplace.
