The article “TikTok rival Kuaishou becomes the latest Chinese tech firm to reshuffle its leadership,” looks into the various changes that have been happening within leadership boards across various firms in China. There seems to be a theme occurring with top-level executives. Recently, various founders/CEOs have taken a step down from their positions. It seems that this trend is occurring to try and minimize the risk. As there has been a lot of regulatory shifts occurring in this market which has caused a lot of the transitions to occur. However, in the case of Kuaishou, representatives have not mentioned a connection.
Kuaishou is a well-running social media machine in china. it has an average usage of 300 million. After the company went public, it marked what was then the world’s biggest IPO since 2019.
This has been a trend among companies recently, and it makes me wonder what the root purpose is. Is it to take a face away from the name? I wonder if it would truly be beneficial or cause the brand to begin to portray a distant communication with its consumers. In order for a brand to be sustainable, it must operate on a two-way communication model, and to an extent removing the “face” of a company could take away from achieving that.
