Scolecite is yet another crystal I stumbled upon during my journeys in my local metaphysical store. In chatting with the store owner, I had told her I wanted to work on my spiritual self, but was stressed and burnt out from school and work. She immediately reached for scolecite and informed me that it could help with both of my problems. Scolecite is a very diverse crystal and can come in many pale colors, but is usually an opaque white. Honestly, at first glance, the stone seemed kind of boring in a way to me, as more flash and color is usually my style. The store owner informed me that what it lacks in beauty, it makes up for in function. With all the hype she had given to the stone, I was expecting to be underwhelmed with its abilities: boy, was I wrong. I started having vivid, lucid dreams every night the scolecite was under my pillow. It allowed me to gain some control of my mind when asleep. After some research, I learned that within the spiritual culture and religions that utilize crystals, scolecite is known to provide breakthroughs into one’s own psyche and promote spiritual and mental growth. Scolecite is sometimes called “the dream stone” because of its unbelievable enhancement of dreams.

Scolecite is known even more well for its ability to promote a sense of deep relaxation and calm. I have referred to other stones that calm me down previously, but scolecite is inexplicably different. When I meditate with scolecite my entire mind, as well as body, relaxes. I feel this almost cooling sensation throughout my body when I hold my scolecite. I know, this probably sounds insane, but yes, I really believe that a rock has done all this and more for me personally.

In addition to dreamwork, scolecite holds another spiritual power. Many tarot card readers use scolecite during reading and/or have some form of scolecite around their deck(s). Scolecite is highly regarded in by many for its ability to provide personal insight. For card readers, scolecite is used to help increase the accuracy of the message channeled by the cards. For others, if faced with a big decision, many grab some scolecite to think it through with. Because scolecite calms you, it clears your mind from distractions and helps you focus on the problem. In addition, it helps you consider all angles and think through all scenarios, which by experience I can say is very, very helpful. Scolecite is extremely versatile and has been very useful to me. Also, I never questioned another recommendation from the shop owner.
